My name is Andre Nel from Centurion, South Africa. I am not a professional photographer; I am just an ordinary guy who loves photography, and more specific wildlife photography. I am still full time employed and do this just as a hobby. I am still learning every day. I have done an introduction to photography course through SHAW Academy which helped me a lot to understand the basics of photography. It was worth it.
None of the photo’s on this website are edited, I am a strong believer (right or wrong) that, what you see is what I shoot. To me, the worst thing that could happen to my photos are that they could be cropped to get rid of something in the photo that I did not had control over or to get rid of excess background.

As you will see from “WHAT IS IN MY BAG”, that I do not have the most expensive equipment that is available. This is just to show that one can also take acceptable photos with average equipment. As a beginner I always believed (wrongly) that one must have the best. But on the contrary, I started with a Canon 350D and then moved to the Canon 1200D as the Tamron lens that I purchase did not work with the 350D. The 1200D is a very capable camera. I use it for my macro photography and with the Tamron lens. I bought the Sigma lens for the Canon 1200D but focusing does not work well as 1200D is to slow with the Sigma. I found a secondhand 7D for a bargain and bought it. Now the Sigma lens is permanently on the D7. AWESOME combination.
